Limited edition table lamp by Aldo van den Nieuwelaar for Artimeta (1975). Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, a leading figure in Dutch modernist design, was celebrated for his minimalist aesthetic, precise lines, and functional yet sculptural approach. In 1975, he designed this table lamp as a special commission for ABN-AMRO Bank, produced by Artimeta Soest in a strictly limited edition. The lamp features a transparent acrylic base and stem, crowned by a white translucent shade that diffuses light into a soft, atmospheric glow. The combination of see-through acrylic and the shade’s subtle warmth creates a striking balance between architectural clarity and inviting ambience — a perfect expression of van den Nieuwelaar’s modernist vision. The design was also exhibited in renowned museums such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the MoMA in New York, further underlining its significance within international design history. This example is in very good original condition, with only minor signs of age.
