This is for a set of leather sculpted animals made by German company Deru in the 1960s. This set includes a monkey, owl, polar bear, Pitbull, 3 ducks and 2 small elephants. Deru made several different leather animals in the 1960s. They are beautifully crafted figures of various animals with an imaginative, origami-like technique of crimping/sewing/riveting a single piece of leather. Its amazing how they can make an expressive animal like these out of a small piece of leather, highly decorative collectible pieces here. Most of the animals are marked with the Deru brand mark.
