Museum-quality Art Nouveau object. Beautiful early beaker vase by Émile Gallé, Nancy-France. The cameo vase with the clematis motif impresses not only with its glass art but also with the additional floral, hand-forged silver mount at the base and neck of the vase. This silver mount is marked with the master punch "MV" and the "Minerve Casquée 1" punch from Paris, which stands for high-alloy 950 silver. This beautifully openwork, sculptural silver work depicts entwined ivy. Each silver part (on the neck as well as on the base) is double-punched. The glass body consists of colorless glass with milky white/violet powder inclusions and is multi-layered violet overlaid and plastically worked. The surface is fire-polished. Signed on the underside of the vase by needle etching with "Cristallerie Gallé à Nancy. Modele et decor deposés". This signature was used between 1895-1897.
