A large 'UFO' vase of purple glass, made by Sem Schanzer in the 1990s as part of the artist collective l'Anverre. L'Anverre is known for its playful and vibrant style, often drawing inspiration from childlike themes. This vase is designed to resemble a UFO with its characteristic disc shape. By placing it on a sphere, the vase can be rotated, reinforcing the impression of a flying spaceship. The vase is made of hand-blown glass and is part of a series of 'UFO' vases made with similar techniques. In some variations, the bullicante method is used to introduce a textured, bubble-like effect. The vase is also available in various colors and sizes. Sem Schanzer, a self-taught artist, was active in various fields, from sculptures and glasswork to installations. He remains unbound to a specific artistic movement. This versatility can be seen in his many works of art. In 1986 he founded the artist collective l'Anverre, an interdisciplinary group based in Antwerp. As the driving force behind the group, he is also called Sem de l'Anverre. The collective shares an artistic and philosophical idea, striving to create deeper meaning in a time when technology and science seem to take us further away from our direct reality. United by nature and their commitment to culture and gender diversity, the collective has achieved international recognition. The vase is signed.
