A rare and highly collectible design by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, produced during a very short window in the mid to late 1980s. Unlike the widely known Togo, the Yoko was only manufactured for a few years, making original examples exceptionally scarce today. It stands as a more restrained and architectural evolution of Ducaroy’s all foam philosophy, aimed at collectors who appreciate subtle, insider design. The form is entirely structure driven, with no internal frame and shaped purely through layered foam densities. This results in a low, grounded silhouette with a strong horizontal presence and a clean segmentation in the backrest. Compared to the more expressive Togo, the Yoko feels calmer, sharper, and more architectural. From every angle front, side, and back it reads as a sculptural object, making it ideal for open and curated interiors. This example is executed in original black leather with a beautifully developed patina that gives the piece a raw and sensual character. The surface texture enhances every fold and contour, creating a slightly darker, almost man cave aesthetic where softness meets edge. It is both minimal and deeply expressive at the same time. Comfort remains true to Ducaroy’s vision, soft yet supportive, with the original foam still intact. The low seating and enveloping form create a relaxed lounge experience while maintaining a strong visual discipline. A rare, minimal, and highly tactile piece that sits somewhere between furniture and architecture, and one that only becomes more compelling with age.
