Artist: Jack Kampmann (Danish 1914-1989) - signed Artist biography: Jack Kampmann settled in the Faroe Islands after World War II. He was a painter and graphic artist as well as an accomplished art teacher, which was to benefit Faroese artists greatly. Many of his paintings show a profound influence from Paul Cézanne's compositions, together with the dramatic nature and wild landscape of the Islands. Kampmann was very influential in bringing Cubism to the Faroe Islands. Faroese Cubism is quite different from the originally intended analytical Cubism of Picasso and Braque; in Faroese Cubism the tangible reality is never far away. I have another example of this print in my personal collection and it remains one of my favourite works by Jack Kampmann.
