This sculptural work by Belgian artist Pierre Caille is made of earthenware, composed of assembled elements and finished with multiple glazes. It was fired in an electric kiln at 1160 °C. While formally controlled, the sculpture retains a playful and subtly humorous character. Based on its stylistic characteristics, it can be situated in the late 1970s, a period during which he gradually moved away from deep black glazes toward anthracite tones, anticipating his later exploration of dense silver patinas and, eventually, gold finishes. Signed on the underside, the sculpture is a clear and representative example of Pierre Caille's late-1970s production and is seldom available on the market.
