An early example of ‘Summer’, a Swedish flat weave rölakan designed and hand woven by Age Faith-Ell for SKLH – Södra Kalmar Läns Hemslöjd (Southern Kalmar County Craft Association) – Sweden. Designed in 1942 this example dates from 1944. ‘1944’ and ‘SKLH’ woven into the corners of the rug. Fringe is a later addition. The design combines flat weave and rya techniques and influenced later rya designs of the 1960s and 1970s. The rug has been professionally cleaned and moth protected.
