Designed in 1955 for Fritz Hansen, the Mosquito (Model 3105) represents a pivotal moment in Jacobsen’s exploration of molded plywood. The dramatically tapered backrest and fluid, organic silhouette give the chair its nickname, while maintaining the designer’s characteristic balance between sculptural elegance and functional clarity. This first edition example features the original black lacquered veneer shell, beautifully worn at the edges, revealing the layered plywood beneath — an honest patina that speaks to age and authenticity.
