This bed is designed by Pierre Chapo in the 1960s. The bed features the hand-crafted joints that the woodworker Chapo is known for. The bed holds a tall headboard and a lower foot end. The elm has patinated over time. With the furniture that is designed by Chapo, the patina can make the difference between a great and a truly unique piece. The patina adds depth, character and authenticity, which is why this bed in its current condition might be even more beautiful than at the time when it was made. The bed consists of 6 wooden elements, which are held together by 4 screw rods, the assembly is very easy. It has a small shelf at the head end. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) was born in a family of craftsmen. He was a graduated architect in 1958 from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Chapo’s work was inspired by Charlotte Perriand and he dedicated himself mainly to his work as a carpenter and as cabinetmaker focusing on his great passion: elmwood.
