Rare 'Flying Saucers' coffee cups, created by the artist Sem Schanzer in the early 1990s as part of the artist collective l'Anverre. The cups are available in different sizes, colors and finishes. This is the lungo size, cream color and matte finish. The cups were made by l'Anverre's own production line. These coffee cups renew the daily coffee ritual. They bring us closer to a childlike game, letting us navigate aboard these flying saucers in a dreamlike world. Sem Schanzer, a self-taught artist, has been active in several fields, from sculpture to glass art to installations. He is not attached to a specific artistic movement. This versatility is reflected in his many works of art. In 1986 he founded the artist collective l'Anverre, an interdisciplinary group based in Antwerp. As the driving force behind the group, he is also called Sem de l'Anverre. The collective shares an artistic and philosophical idea, striving to create a deeper meaning in an age where technology and science seem to distance us from our direct reality. United by nature and by their commitment to culture and gender diversity, the collective has gained international recognition. The glaze of the cups can develop a crackle pattern - a fine network of lines that appears as the material ages. This gradual change is part of the organic nature of the cup and contributes to a quietly wabi-sabi aesthetic, where slight imperfections and signs of use are appreciated as elements of authenticity.
