Rare catalogue including 9 spectacular silkscreen plates Landesmuseum Münster, Published by Aurel Bongers, Recklinghausen, 1977 Introduction by Jürgen Wissmann Soft cover, 28 pages, 9 silkscreen plates on doubled leaves. 25 x 22,5 cm Condition: Stamp of former owner back of cover, light wear cover. Silkscreen plates in a very good shape. Very scarce, especially in this condition Josef Albers ( March 19, 1888 - March 25, 1976) was a German-born artist and educator. The first living artist to be given a solo show at MoMA and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, he taught at the Bauhaus, the Black Mountain College,the HFG Ulm and he headed Yale University's department of design. Albers is considered one of the most influential teachers of the visual arts in the twentieth century. Albers worked in several disciplines, including photography, typography, murals, design and printmaking. While he did not believe in a division between art and other disciplines, he is best known for his work as an abstract painter and a theorist.
