Adolf Born (1930 – 2016) was a Czech painter, graphic artist, illustrator, animator, and set designer. Born in České Velenice, he studied art education at Charles University and caricature and illustration at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. In the 1960s and 70s, he focused primarily on caricature, earning international awards. He transitioned from press caricatures to grotesque graphics for collectors, galleries, and publishers, developing an unmistakable style featuring quirky characters, bizarre animals, circus performers, elegant gentlemen in top hats, and ladies with elaborate hairstyles. Born also illustrated around 230 books, including "Mach and Šebestová," "War with the Newts," and "Pippi Longstocking." He began working in film in 1962, collaborating on animated films and series like "Mach and Šebestová" and "Žofka and Her Adventures." He also contributed animated sequences and titles to live-action films. In total, he participated in the creation of 62 films.
