This model, created in 1939, was unveiled at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and also presented at the exhibition "De l'idée à la forme" organized by the Porza association at the Palais Galliera in Paris. Royère revisited this model in 1951 and adapted it to form a sofa. Pierre Emmanuel Martin Vivier, in his monograph on Royère, writes about this model: "the form of the Eléphanteau is conceived as a whole. Royère designed this seat, which rests on small conical feet, with a single line following the movement of an undulation that would have freed itself in space." "The Eléphanteau saw a slightly different version in the 1950s with shorter ears where the perfect regularity of the undulations best balanced the armchair."
