Firing crack on the head and on the right side of the body and base Restorations Notes: After being noticed at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs by the famous couturier Jacques Doucet, Gaston Le Bourgeois participated in the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts for the decoration of the Sèvres Manufactory Pavilion. He notably created two Ostriches in stoneware to frame the fountain by sculptor Henri Bouchard, which were so successful that the Manufactory decided to buy the rights in 1926. Only five other copies of these sculptures were made between 1928 and 1930, given the technical difficulties applied to pieces of such dimensions.
