Orazio Ciaramella (Horos) was born in Paternò (Catania) in 1963. At the age of thirteen, he entered the "Le Nid" studio in Paternò under the guidance of master Barbaro Messina, where he learned the art of modeling and painting on canvas, remaining there until 1986. In 1976, he enrolled in the Liceo Artistico of Catania. In 1983, he attended the State Institute of Art in Catania, enriching his cultural background under the guidance of esteemed professors such as Luciana Anelli, Enzo Comes, Bergomi, and Busà. To support his studies, he worked at the Antica Manifattura Ceramiche U. Zaccagnini, where he learned the secrets of the great Tuscan Masters. In 1986, he obtained his applied art diploma from the Institute of Art in Catania. In 1987, he moved to Florence to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. Orazio Ciaramella loves painting and sculpture, but he sees only color in one and only volume in the other. During this period, color entered sculpture and vice versa, the two becoming one. During a visit to an exhibition in Faenza in '89, he discovered the ceramic sculptures of Lucio Fontana. He later obtained his diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts with a thesis on "Lucio Fontana Ceramista." In 1990, concurrently with his classical studies, he began research combining materials extraneous to ceramics (metals, lava stone, glass) with special clay mixtures, experimenting with personal solutions that led him to a path culminating in a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of Vitorchiano (VT) in 1996. In 1991, he opened an artistic studio with Roberto Aiudi in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Florence. During this period, with R. Aiudi, Ciaramella began experimenting with Raku ceramics. The plastic material combined not only with metals but the color itself became metallic. This collaboration lasted until 1995. In 1992, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in the Decoration school. In 1996, he opened a ceramic company in Cerbaia Val di Pesa, where he lived and worked until 2006. In 2007, he moved to Paternò, where he opened a new artistic studio.
