A unique glass sculpture, Sweden, signed. Sand-cast polychrome glass with a decoration of two faces. Signed Björn Ekegren unique. On a metal base. Height 46, width 30, depth 15 cm. Minor surface wear. Tape residue on the back at the top. Björn Ekegren (b. 1955) is a Swedish sculptor, glass artist, and painter based in Höganäs, Skåne, where he also has his studio. Björn trained in glass forming techniques and later transitioned to sculpture, where his primary medium is sand-cast glass, but also bronze. The sculptures bridge the different traditions of art glass and seek to create a unique form of expression. They often take the shapes of faces and statues, executed in a sand-casting technique reminiscent of that used by the Egyptians 2000 years ago. The colors, such as blue, turquoise, and ochre, are inspired by the Mediterranean. By law, the buyer will pay an artist fee for this work of art. This fee is 5% of the hammer price, or less.
