This pair of Mid-Century table lamps by Heinz-Josef Ohm for Glashütte Limburg is one of the few German lighting designs from the late 1970s to receive the iF Design Award. Model 6193, available here as a pair, was produced from 1978. The glass base is made of matte opal glass in a bulbous bottle shape, with a constricted neck and an internal light source. It features a three-flame design: the glass body is illuminated from within by one light, while two additional light sources are located under the pagoda-shaped fabric shade. This separation allows for two different lighting moods. The matte opal glass diffuses the light evenly without harsh contrasts. With a total height of 70.5 cm including the shade, these opal glass table lamps fit on dressers, sideboards, and side tables. As a pair, both lamps create a symmetrical situation that works well in both the bedroom and the living room. The Glashütte Limburg table lamp represents a design language that prioritizes material quality and functionality. The design was awarded the iF Design Award in 1978, confirming its position within German post-war design history.
